My Wow moment this semester happened using iMovie. I have tried putting movies together but could never figured it out. But after making the iMovie in class, I learned a lot on how to make a movie. Since then, I have made movies for my sorority and other class projects. Tutorials are so helpful and they help me feel like I can use my Mac and it’s programs to their full potential.
Final Semester Favorites
I really liked Animoto. It was so easy to use, but the product was so cool. I had never used Animoto before, but I can see myself using it a lot in the future in my classroom and for personal use too. I already started putting pictures together to make a slideshow for my little sister’s graduation party using Animoto.
Voicethread was another neat tool I had never been exposed to until this semester. I found it easier to use than Garageband. It was easier to match my voice to the photos and space my timing. I also liked that it was a program I can use even if my students don’t have a Mac.
Final Edudemic
Skype and Pandora were two of my favorites. I liked all the ideas teachers had for using Skype in the classroom. I think this opens your classroom to so many opportunities. You are no longer restricted to resources in your school, but to the whole world. It also lets kids who can’t be in the classroom for some reason to skype with the class. I personally use Skype all the time to talk to family and friends.
Pandora is a great website to listen to your favorite music but also be exposed to new music. I like that it can take music you already like, and find new songs it will think you will like. Pandora never does me wrong!
Garageband Project
I made a vocabulary presentation using Garageband. It was very convenient to import pictures from iPhoto to Garageband and put the presentation together. I had never used Garageband until this project, so I am glad I am more comfortable using the program. The project I made was landforms. Click on the link above to watch it!
Glogster
Glogster is a tool I think I will definitely use in my classroom someday! It is so easy to use, but so fun. I could use this for recycling posters, posters promoting school activities, or making star student posters. My friend Melanie and I made a poster on Cyberbullying located in the link above.
Celebrate Kansas Voices
Alpha Delta Pi- Alpha Eta Chapter at Kansas State University in Manhattan, KS
Google Map- Look at Alpha Delta Pi on the map!
Look at this video and others on Celebrating Kansas Voices
This project was so fun! I really enjoyed using Voicethread. It was so easy to use, but looks so professional when you are finished. Google Map was also a good resource to learn how to use. I use it all the time to look up places I am going, but have never made my own map! I also liked learning more about different places in Kansas. I take for granted the home I live in and it was so interesting to think of all the women who have lived in this house before me.
